Default More on my coolant leak

So, I'm leaving work around 6pm this evening, fire up the A6, put it in reverse, start to backing out of my space and hear the deadly beep of the warning chime. Low coolant warning again! WTF?! I had just added some coolant the other day!

I can see in front of me a pool of coolant on the ground. EEEK! This is NOT good. I pull to the side, open the hood and start peering around. Nothing obvious. Where the hell is this stuff going?

I decide to top off again and head for home, all the while sniffing for coolant and watching the temp guage.

I stop at WalMart, because it's on the way home; they didn't have the Peak coolant that I need. As I'm walking towards the car, I can SEE coolant dripping underneath. Pop the hood and start looking around. I look down at the rear of the engine and sure enough... there's a spray of coolant! I can't tell which hose has a pinhole in it, but it's DEFINITELY there. I vented the coolant bottle and the spray stopped.

When I pulled into my driveway, with the engine running, I gave it another look. No spray. Shut off the engine, give another look. No spray. The bottle is refilling. Now I notice a slow but consistent drip from the bottom of the bottle.

Here's the kicker... I have been topping up with Peak, not G12. Peak doesn't leave a chalky residue when it leaks. I'm might be looking at another coolant bottle, at least a new hose, and definitely a full flush and refill with G12.

Default Buy or borrow a cheap pressure tester and save yourself

time and ag hunkering over a hot motor in July. The pressure tester should pinpoint any leak in the system.
