Hello people I am getting transferred to California (San Jose) from Chicago Suburbs ...
Will plan to ship out sometime in September
Just need the following...
1) Tips for shipping my Car and house hold separately (have never moved before)
2) Any recommended carriers (Automobile)?? Experiences to share??
3) Will it be cheaper to Ship both the cars (Audi + Murano)together?? Any experiences on 2 cars shipping??
TIA

If you want your things to survive the movers touch, pack your own boxes bomb proof.
Other than that, my one move/car shipping experience tip would be to arrange your own auto shipper & do not rely on the moving company. My car arrived 5 weeks after my household goods.
Recently, I looked into shipping a car from MI to CO and it was ~$800-1400 depending on carrier & open/closed trailer. I'd consider driving one & shipping the other. There are a ton of things to see between IL & CA.

as they will provide the best protection. I've moved several times and use the original manufacturer's boxes that I have kept for my goods. You should label any boxes you pack with "PBO", which is short for "Packed By Owner".
I spent one winter working in the Chicago area, but I grew up in San Jose, so I know you'll really enjoy the NorCal weather. You'll just have to put up with higher housing costs.

If your company will pay for enclosed or if you can afford it, do it.
For open there are tons of options, but few are that great. I've shipped a few cars in a few different ways and written about it here a while back. You can STFA or email me your phone number and I'd be happy to give you a call. It's just too much to re-type it all.
