Default Gotta love the changing seasons in an Audi.

Do a search for "cam adjuster seal" and plan a bank robbery. :-(

Until it leaks out faster than you can put it in, I'd spend the money on motor oil!

Default how cold? Below say 15 deg.? If so, you could have a

blocked breather hose. If you see the tell-tale oil-burning smoke from the exhaust, pull over, leave the engine running, and loosen (but don't remove) the oil filler cap. Listen carefully for the sound of pressurized air escaping from the oil filler hole. If you hear it, we know the issue is the breather hose.

I've had the same issue a few times (maybe 4X last year, ONLY in very cold temps). Doesn't seem to bother anything - I just need to be vigilant and watch for the tell-tale signs.

Good luck.

Hmmm. I've heard of that, especially on the 1.8t's. Definitely more common on turbo engines, IIRC

yes, although there is a "suction pump" valve on the 2.8 engines that also gets blocked.

Yep. Just replaced it as part of my "timing belt plus" service on the avant.
