Default Is my car running Windows ?

Driving along happily - no problems - then : BAM ! Instant Limp Mode. Car just died.
- Tranny indicator on the instrument cluster is inverted
- Oil Low warning light flashes
- Check Engine Light Flashes
- Battery Low warning

Accelerator disabled. No power. Had to pull-over.
Ignition off, back on again, drive away, no problems.

Of course Oil & Battery are perfect.

So I did a dump via VAG-COM. No special ECU faults. But the TCU has a fault indicating it lost data connection to ECU.

I'm used to this kind of crap from Microsoft - not from Bosch. Did someone install a Browser update without my permission ?

Default Yikes. That's not gonna be easy to find.

Sounds like the ECU lost power somehow but the TCU did not. I'd VAG the other control units (ABS, cluster, etc) for clues and break out the Bentley wiring diagram.

Default Sounds like a bad ground or possibly an engine CAN bus fault/bad connection

I would try unplugging the instrument cluster and plugging it back in first as a no brainer, no troubleshooting required go/no go

Default Loose ground wire or bad ECU perhaps?

OT:but did you get anywhere with your TCU software? I'd love to work on it with you.
