When the electric rad. fan kicks in (usually only when the A/C is on), it seems to serve its purpose but it is LOUD!
It's loud enough I sometimes shut the air off a few minutes before pulling up to friends to avoid embarrassment.
It doesn't sound like anything is rubbing, no funny smells, just sounds like a very loud fan.
Do I probably just need to replace it, clean it, or do they all sound that loud?

and it sounds like a 747.
I may seek an aftermarket alternative.
Now, to find the stock CFM so I can find a quiet alternative that at least matches it so I don't have any cooling issues.

This fan is commonly blocked by a piece of rubber shrouding. When it stops, it causes the eletric fan on the front of the radiator to work overtime - hence the air raid siren. If it is indeed blockage of the aux fan, it needs to be cleared quickly before the fan/modulator is damaged

and apply belt dressing. Mine comes and goes, usually after running for long periods, I just turn it off when it squeels for a few minutes then kick it back on with no noise. Sooner or later I will open it up and semi cure it, there is alot of talk about this is the archives.
