Have a look:
The replacement bosch sensor insert, for maf part # 077 133 471 K. It's a good backup to have if you run into a flakey bosch maf sensor. Electrically, this reads different than the OEM S4 sensor, so you will need tuning to use this on the S4, such as fueling kits from AMS, APR, OCT, MTM, etc.
I'm not sure what they mean by "electrically different", but it may not be plug and play. My MAFs have that same diagram, but I think it may be a leftover - I was searching on the S4 archives and it seems these use a hot film rather than hot wire. Do a search for "Bosch MAF wire" with pics and a dissection post comes up that is really good (but for which the photos are gone - grrrrrr).
Let me know what you find out!
Thanks,
Sean

But It says "Electrically, this reads different than the OEM S4 sensor" I'm using an A6 sensor.

they sell a cheap kit of something on the order of 80 pieces that includes ALMOST every size odd bit that I've needed, I believe the cost was around 10-15USD. and the only bits that it didn't have were some extra small ones that I need for repairing small electronics and laptop computers. well worth the money and if you aren't rough on them, they'll last for a long time.
for torx-post screws, when I don't have my kit around, I usually use a small flat head screwdriver to get the thing out far enough that I can either do the rest by hand or can use pliers.

The spare I bought from an S4 guy - part number is 078 906 461 B on both. This is on the housing though - not sure if the internal piece has a different number.

Not sure if its different or the same. I would find it odd vastperformance would only mention the S4 needing to be modified and not the a6, if they are the same. The sensor is listed for 2.7T, RS4, S8, A6. Just to be sure I e-mailed Vast for the details. I'll keep you posted. -Jaime
