While I agree with you......................

Local shop owner has an SHO as his DD, 285K miles, runs like a top. But of course he's a mechanic and takes care of it.

Not to nitpick, but to me an SHO is a bit like buying a Golf vs. an R32 (or GTI)

Granted the Golf is a much better car than the Taurus, and the chassis and interior and such is essentially the same comparing the base to performance models, but the driving experience is probably much different in the SHO and GTI from the Taurus and Golf.
