My wife was all excited 'cause she saw the "new A6" last night.
WRONG. I had to call up the AudiUSA web site to convince her, but she was looking at an A8.
Here's the rub, though. As nice as the A8 looks (and the A8 is the newest redesign out by Audi) all indications are that it is really the last time we will see the "basic" Audi over-under-bumper split-grill, rectangular headlight look.
Why make your flagship car the last model to carry the old styling cues? I'm not saying that the look is bad, just that the styling direction of the new A6 should have been launched on the A8. Maybe that's why they are holding the new A6 back another model year -- to protect the A8.

To repeat a thought that I expressed here recently...
...on the new A6, if Audi would simply change the chrome trim around the new grille perimeter by trimming the upper and lower grilles separately rather than as one single unit, the look would be dramatically improved. I think I'll try to photoshop one of the recent "new A6" pics to see how it would look. Stay tuned.
