Default NAPA sale on Mobil 1 Euro Formula

Went to Napa Auto Parts to pick up a NAPA Gold filter for the 2.7t and saw that they have all Euro spec Mobil 1 synthetic oils on sale for $5.99/ qt. including 0w-30, 0w-40, etc.

It's not the best sale they've ever had on it (it was $4.99 in June), but a lot better than anywhere else I've found, with most charging upward of $7 to $7.50/ qt. It would be nice if Wal Mart had the 0W weights because their prices are better than anyone's, but they don't.

I am going to stock up some ... I know Mobil-1 0W-40 is Audi approved, how about 0W-30?

This oil gradually clean up the sludge inside your engine... great oil.

0w30 is not explicitly 502/505 rated like the 0/40 is. Id also go with a better filter than the Napa Gold, I dont trust them for crap. Our napa rep even stated the cheaper napas arent really long life filters. Advance auto and pepboys both carry Bosch filters.

Napa gold's are made by WIX which is one of the best filters out there. Bosch are not German made anymore. They are made by Champion labs and are kinda crappy. Their OK for the 2.8, but not recommended for the 2.7t due to it's higher oil pressure. Only filter that has the proper bypass valve pressure for the 2.7t is the MANN(OEM) filter. WIX & Napa Gold's are very close and will be fine.

GC and M1 0w-40 are the two most available oils that meet VW502. Pennzoil Euro 5w-40 is great oil if you can find it. My local Walmart has the Euro M1 for $6.49/qt regular price.
