After missing my A8 for 6 months, I'm looking to get back into an Audi and have my eye on a 2000 2.7T 6spd manual with 107k miles. My driving will be about 300 - 500 miles a week all highway.
How concerned should I be about the miles on this car? Any particular items I should check more carefully? My A8 was running strong at 168k when I sold it but I have no experience with the twin turbo sixes.
Thanks in advance.

Especially with a turbo, keeping up with maintenance is a big deal. Records are always a major plus too to help verify the maintenance yourself. As long as everything has been done, and they drive it properly, allowing the turbos to warm up/cool down you should be good to go as long as you like the condition/features/color of the car you buy. But that said, with the turbos definitely make sure the car has been maintained appropriately.

personally, I would look into one with lower miles.
I have 120k on my A6 with no real complaints, I love the car and it's holding up well considering it's mileage, though I have to admit that I find myself 'lucky'.
-Make sure the Timing belt has been done. If it hasn't, make the seller knock $1500 off it's value and don't drive it so much as 10 miles before getting it done.
-Get a feel for the transmission (they have sync issues at high miles). A rough shift into first gear and extra effort to throw it in 2nd are tell-tale signs as the sync issues always occur in 1st and 2nd gear
-Have it inspected by someone who knows Audi's.
-As far as the turbos go - if they havent died by now, there is a good chance they'll last close to the life of the car (assuming everything is stock). You'll know first hand by the way the car sounds while accelerating if they're bad. If you have the car inspected, make sure they check the turbos for oil leaks.
Do not buy this car unless you have some reserves set aside in the event that an expensive repair arises.
What is the price? Don't pay a dollar more than $10k for it.
I drive as many miles on a weekly basis as you do and having this car makes those miles enjoyable.

I bought a 2001 A6 2.7t with the updated oil lines and havent had a problem yet. Im pushing 110k miles with a weekly commute of about 500 miles. I do oil changes every 4k miles with synthetic 0W-40. I like to get on the car every so often, so I wouldnt say I baby it too much. I average around 23mpg. If you can find a 2001.5 or up I would say go for it, but I would be weary of a 2000 A6 unless it has had its turbos replaced.
