Default Need advice - just got 87/55 Reckless Driving

I was headed to Reston, Va driving on Dulles Toll Road where I was pulled over for 87 in a 55 zone. I thought I was doing about 70-75. It was a clear day. I believe I was passing a car in moderate traffic. Guess what? Going >20MPH over the limit is reckless driving and a Class I misdemeanor in Fairfax county.

I haven't received a ticket in about 10 years, and I am about to contact a lawyer. This whole situation makes me a bit nervous.

I searched the archives to try to find a simliar experiece.

Has anyone gone to court recently for in a similar situation?

What can I expect?

Any advice?

Can anyone recommend a good experienced lawyer in this area of law?

Default How did they get you. Laser?

Get a good Lawyer.

Play the "Station Wagon" role, if you can.

Default This question is asked several times per month on the midatlantic board.

At your speed, there is a real possibility that you will have your license suspsended, unless you get a good attorney.

My wife got pulled over on I-66 in Fairfax at 81mph, we got an attorney who happened to be friends with the prosecutor, and got the thing plead down to 74, which is only 19mph over.

My recommendation is to find an attorney who used to work in the prosecutors office.

Default It never ceases to bewilder me how something so benign as that is "reckless" in a place called VA.

Around here on the freeways, you've gotta be going at least 80 to even warrant any real attention.
