Default If you know the roads here...

in NoVa, MD, etc. 87 IS IMO reckless in many, many situations. I typically drive 65-75 on the Beltway to keep up with traffic but I still think 87 is out of hand on that or the Dulles Toll Rd.

I have nothing against driving fast in safe & appropriate circs., but those conditions rarely exist in this area.

Good luck w/ the ticket, I think they'll usually let you plead it down to a high end speeding ticket.

Here's an idea. Accept responsibilty for your actions.

Default Driven through a couple times from Texas to Pennsylvania...

...nicest stretch of interstate the whole way. Could easily have done 90-100 on cruise control without worrying on that kind of road.

Default Yeah, except the punishment for reckless is enormous

loss of license, huge fine, license insurance, insurance rates go up, etc.

At least he should be able to plea to just speeding. That would be an acceptable way of taking responsibility.

Default clearly you don't live here...

20 hrs. a day it's crowded and with the many bad drivers here, even 65 is taking your life in your hands.

I have thousands of hours & miles of track time etc. but the DC area highways are no place for 90mph most of the time.

Default Toll Rd = traffic. Need a good lawyer to get the reckless tossed.

The Toll Rd between the beltway and Dulles typically has a fair amount of traffic. The busier a road is, the more difficult it is to get the reckless tossed. Would be easier if it was past Dulles where traffic is typically light except for rush hour.

It was reported on one website that some judges in VA were giving people jail time for 90+.

Good luck.
