OK - here's the scenario - my CPO warranty expires in Mark. I've got 83K on my A6. Did the timing belt @ 60K & had the center cluster repaired under warrenty. Car needs shocks & front rotors. Other than that - it's in good shape. I'm torn between selling it (we owe about 8K on the note so I'm assuming a break even) or keeping it and putting some money into it.
I can lease a BMW 325ixt (which I like) for about 459/mo - 36 months, 15K in mileage/yr.
I'm a little concerned about wear items - cv joints, control arms, etc. . . If I keep it, I'm going to take it my indy shop and have them give it the once over before the warrenty expires. What do you guys think?

CPO is almost gone. You'll need some pricey repairs....If this was a car that you know how to work on (and it's been good to you), keep it.
If not, and things start to go wrong it can bleed you. The assumption of keeping a car for a long time and not having to keep dumping money into it just doesn't work as well as it used to.
W/ 8K, you can go approx 17 months on the new lease (full warranty and maint).

I would agree that you are facing some expensive repair work if you frequent the dealer. If you can do some work yourself or know a good indie it is not much of an issue. I have 157K on my 99 and I still love it. I wish I had more power but am keeping the car for a few more years.

I've got a decent indy, so that's good. Wifey loves the car, and so do I when it's running. We live in Brooklyn, so the car takes a pounding. I'm leaning towards driving it into the ground. To get into the lease would require me putting up about $3700, and our payments on the A6 are only $220/month so I think as long as I'm spending less than 3K a yr in maintence, I'm better off keeping it.
