Default Need the opinion on purchase of '04 A6 S-line. This is a "new" car w/only 150 miles.

The car has sat on the lot since '04, the warranty (4yrs., 50k miles) began ticking down Nov. 04 because the dealer needed to start it to get some sort of allowance from Audi. (Not quite sure on this part.)

It is fitted with 18" 9 spoke wheels swapped from another car that was sold to an elderly couple who did not want the wheels.

It is in my opinion a very desirable color ,silver, and cannot understand why it has not sold. It listed originally at $46,900 and is now at $34,900. Is this a fair price considering it is two years old and the warranty is down 1yr 3mos?

Default Yes, there was some incentive at the end of the 2004 model year...

which gave the dealer some type of rebate to pass on to the cusomter. Maybe they can coer it under Certified Pre-Owned, even though it was not yet titled? Might as well ask...it will give you another 2 years and 50k miles on everything but wear and tear (which is subject to interpretation).

Sounds like a good price for a "new" car!

Default ^^^What he said^^^., especially if they'll CPO it.

Pardon my ignorance, what the heck is a "S-Line". I know what S4's, S6's, and even S8's are but I don't what an A6 S-Line is.

As I understand the "s-line", it means sport package, but i believed MY03 or 04, you can not add the sport package and audi introduce so called "s-line" A6

Default I bought one just like that one, but CPO. The CPO would be worth the investment, IMO, given...

...these cars' tendency to get jiggy with expensive repairs as the miles add up.

It's a great car.

I paid less than you've been quoted, but it had 10K miles on it when I bought it in April '05. OTOH, it is CPO until 100K miles!

Oh, and to Jim Clark: The '04-only C5 S-line is a trim package (spoiler, badging) plus slight re-programming of the ECU to result in 265HP and 280 lb. ft. of torque vs. the normal 2.7T at 250HP/258 lb ft. Trust me, this is my 3rd 2.7T, and the extra power (and particularly torque) is easily felt anywhere on the dial.

The ECU programming was supposedly largely lifted from the original B5 S4, which had the identical power ratings.

Default The 2004 S-line was really just a trim package...

which included:

HP increased to 265 (from 250)
RS6 rear spoiler
18" 9-spoke RS4 style wheels with summer tires OR
17" 9-spoke RS4-style wheels with all season tires
S-line badges

ONLY available in Tiptronic...no manual.

I can't think of anything else...

Default sounds like a nice deal, esp. if you can get them to add CPO. Only you, of course, can decide if

you're comfortable with a 'new' car that is already 2 years old, but it does sound like a deal. And for what its worth, silver is the easiest color to mod.
