Need some help/ advice with a sunroof problem...

Took my car to the local stealership today for a noisy blower fan (replaced under CPO) and a creeking/ tapping noise that comes from the sunroof whenever I've got a little body flex going on. I have managed to isolate the noise to the rear left portion of the glass panel and if I push up on it there is a little play (probably 1/64th or 1/32nd of an inch) The noise is so annoying that I've just had it.
Problem is that the dealer says that it's going to be a minimum of 4-6 hours diagnostic time before they can even determine if it's a warranty issue. That sounded excessive, but I kept asking questions. Someone on here had posted about a broken weld in their sunroof frame, so I casually asked "well, if it's something like a broken weld it would be covered, right?" and the answer was an emphatic no. The service manager then stated that sunroof frames and tracks are not covered at all.
#1 Does anyone have any ideas that might lead me to solving the problem myself?
#2 Is it true that the headliner has to come out of the vehicle to service the sunroof?
#3 Is Dover Auto World just plain full of $h!t about frames and tracks not being covered under CPO?

I hear a cracking noise half way, when I want to open it all the way. And when its open just "verticaly" some little screw I guess is rattling inside whenever the road gets a little rough.
Any Ideas?

They found THAT while the had the thing apart to repair the broken drain tube that caused the leak and stain on my headliner. THEN they made a c*ck-up of relacing the (new, unstained)headliner and visibly creased it, so had to order another one and do it again. (Took about a month to order/get each one)
But to answer your question #2, YES the headliner has to come out to get at the sunroof frame. Even the Bentley says so!
