Default Need some paint advice

My right front tire picked up something on the road and banged it around the wheel well so much that it dented the fender from the inside, chipping the paint. Anyone know what it takes to fix something like this? There is bare metal showing for about an inch, and the paint is flaking on the edges.

Default Real fix would be a repaint of the whole fender. A body shop might be able to do a spot fix though.

The price difference is not going to be that great though. I would say maybe $200 for a full repaint. Figure a little more if they need to do any work with plaster.

Default If it is not pearl, then a spot fix will work just fine. Even Pearl can be spot fixed but will not

be an exact match without painting the whole fender. Ask for a quote from your dealer and ask who they use. Subs for dealers are normally pretty good and usually have correct paint (and brand) on hand. Otherwise another shop will have to mix and match... plus you may have to purchase a whole quart/gallon to do a spot job. Most good paint costs upwards of $150+ per gallon, plus another $100+ for good primer... So check out the dealer sub besides the "other guys".

Default Thanks. I don't think I need plaster.

The fender dented only on the part that isn't visible, inside the wheel well.
