My car: Audi, 2000, A6, Quattro, 2.7T. 85k miles.

Symptom: When driving, ABS and Brake came out on dashboard. Brake light is flashing. Sometimes they went out (at the same time), and then returned together.

I search this forum, found some suggestions on rebuilding a module. However I'm still a little confused.

First, There are several possible causes for the lights, right? How could we tell (Maybe not the module...)? Is it useful to clean the ABS speed censors (is this a possible cause?)?

Second, if I need to check the real problem, I should use VAG-COM? what is this? OBD diagnostic? I thought it would only detect codes for check engine light. Will work for brake&ABS light? where should I get it? Autozone?

I really want to save some money because of job problem. Hope I can get some help here and save my wallet.... I will really appreciate it.

Check your local regional forum for someone who can scan the ABS module for codes with VAG-COM.

VAG-COM can interface will all control units in your Audi.

The module probably needs a rebuild.

Cleaning the sensors is more likely a waste of time and energy.
