Default Need sources for A6 Brake Pads

There has been a lot of discussion about various after market pads for the A6 2.7T and 4.2. I've reviewed Stoney's excellent FAQ on the subject of brakes but no one seems to list where they have gotten the various pads they've mentioned. I'm having trouble finding after market pads. Can anyone recommend where I can get some of these pads? I'm taking my 4.2, with new factory rotors, to the Thunderhill Audi driving event on 1/11 & 1/12 and need something much better than the OEM pads. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Jim

Default www.germanautoparts.com (more)

They stock Mintex Red Box (my faves) and others. Web site is not too good and doesn't state all they carry, so call them (phone number on web site). They are very friendly and helpful and are among the cheapest. Also, very fast shipping - plus they only charge what it costs (charged me <$8 for shipping TWO full sets of F+R pads for my and my friends A6's - i.e. 8 wheels worth ). I've bought pads and rotors from them before (my old A4) and thoroughly recommend them to anyone.

Default I agree w/ April. Porterfield's are good for the track & road, combined use.

They're known to eat up the rotors though.
At least they did in my '94 RX7, before.

Who are you running w/ at ThunderHill...what group? Sounds like fun!

You might get some serious squealing on Porterfields for street use, I did. Changed them back to OEM

I have his street series on my A6 - nice pads little dust. Much less dust than the Porterfield R4 (but that's a race pad) or Mintex C-Tech blus box.
