I am considering getting a 2000 Audi A6 2.7 Turbo. It has been a one owner car always serviced regularily and driven by an older gentleman. He traded it in on a new Meredes GLK It has 155000 kms or just shy of 100 000 miles. How good are these cars? Should i know of any issues around 100 000 miles? Would it be better to find a newer one?
I really liked how it drove....Thought it was a great car and had enough power to make me happy...Oh it also was a tiptronic too...
Please let me know opinions...

"one owner car always serviced regularily and driven by an older gentleman" sounds good to me.
We recently got an 04 S-line version of the same car.

decided to give it a try. All I can say is that this car has it's ups and downs. Are you buying the car for cash?
The UP's-
*Very Comfortable Interior,
*Very Sleek Exterior (looks hot),
*Fun to Drive,
*Cheap to buy these days,
The DOWNs-
Hmmm.... where do I start? (Just kidding, Audi ownership is really not that horrible)
The Common Issues Include:
*Even if the car was well taken care off expect some small stuff to break. Things such as interior switches not lighting up, driver's seat wear and etc...
*Faulty Center Information Display in the Gauge Cluster,
*Oil Leaks from Valve Cover Gaskets and Cam Tensioner Seals,
*Turbo Air Leaks from faulty stock Diverter Valves (loss of power and that psssss sound under hood at idle and such),
*Squicky Brakes if not replaced properly,
*Control Arm and CV Boots Failtures,
*Squicky Front Shocks,
*TURBO FAILTURE (NOT LIKELY IF THE CAR IS STOCK AND IF IT WAS DRIVEN BY AN ADULT, BUT AFTER 100k IT'S ALWAYS POSSIBLE- BUT...MOST LIKELY YOURS IS FINE),
*FAULTY THERMOSTAT and/or WATER PUMP.
Those are the main drawbacks.
The conclusion.
Great daily driver if you can buy it cheap and know someone locally that can fix it for you as a side job. Those cars are reliable if you treat it right. If you have to take it to the shop all the time, well...I don't know how affordable it will be for you. First year is always the worst when you buy older car, but that it gets a little better. Just keep in mind it is a performance car that is nearly 10 years old so anything can happen even. Hovewer, IMO the value the car gives is way better than driving a new budget Toyota or Honda and making car payments monthly.
If you are buying it for CASH, DO IT. If not...well think about it well.
GOOD LUCK.

I'm new too, well one month into the new-to-me / used 2004 A6 2.7 S line, and find the car nothing short of amazing. My only a comment is at least look into the better handling S line.
Previous car was a 1999 A6 2.8. I like the newer one better. : )
