Hello!
I just bought a used 2000 A6 quattro 2.7t automatic. 44k miles.. The car is being shipped from back east here to CA.
I am wondering what kind of maintenance repair issues that I might encounter in the next 10k miles?
Thanks
Steve

one of the big trouble signs after 40K.
I would have the dealer take care of that before they ship it. even if its not busted yet, I would have them replace it before you even got it.
diverter valves and throttle body boot are other problem areas .
its still under warranty correct?

M1 0W-30 or 0W-40. Also see Stoneys FAQ page and this link from PaulW on the A8 forum
http://www.audipages.com/
Both offer a wealth of information.
Check the VIN with a local dealer to get more information.<ul><li><a href="http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html">Stonys FAQ page</a></li></ul>

That was a very common failure on '00s. It would not render the car useless, and could go unnoticed if you are not really sensitive to engine sounds.
Consider an extended warranty. In will cost you $2,500+, but could pay for itself 3X over if you have turbo or transmission failure.
