Lots of experience with older Audi's: 4000Q, 200TQ 20V, A4 1.8 T. Thinking of 00 A6 2.7 T. Anything to watch out for? Looking at used with 100K miles. Engine issues besides usual Tbelt/Waterpump Maint? Turbo issues? Auto vs. Stick? My A4 is a Tip. and I'm not crazy about it's shifting, although in stop & go traffic, it's a blessing. Thanks for any input.

At that age and price, you should be paying no more than $12,000, maybe less.
Search the site. The cars have had turbo problems, but if the turbos are working when you get the car, you will have no greater chance of blowing them than anyone else. Everything has a useful life, and 100K is a lot for a '00 car (mine has less than half that.
Get the car checked out carefully. No matter how cheap you get it, any major repair is going to set you back $2,000 to $5,000. Transmission ($5,000), turbos ($5,000), steering rack ($2,500), all need to be checked. But even if checked you have to be prepared to pay the freight if they break.
Try to get service records. If the owner used synthetic oil, that's a plus.

~16k private sell
Stop the 12k stuff : )))
ran it also for 100k miles clean instead of outstanding and it was $12.8k trade in, $14.8k private, $17k dealer sell.

I do all my own work, have always bought cars in good shape with high mileage at a reasonable price. I'm just not familiar with this engine and it's quirks. Thanks for your input.

Turbo - I have 88K on my 00 w/o problem. Most people who has turbo issues are probably chipped, especially the S4 crowd.
