New ipod Install
I purchased a new 30gig Ipod and was running it with a tape adapter. Sounded suprisingly good but I could not deal with the wires and plugging things in and out. So i decided to go through the CD changer option.
Parts needed for the project:
1. Blitzsafe adpter (autotoys.com)
2. Ipod
3. Ipod Car charger with 3.5mm audio jack
4. Mini Plug to RCA adapter
5. In line fuse
6. cigarette lighter socket extender
7. Mount from Pro-clip
8. Keys to unlock the radio. I went to a local shop and had them unlock the radio at no charge.
All the parts i needed

The Ipod car charger was plugged into the cigarrete lighter socket extender. I cut the male side of it and put an inline fuse then wired it directly to the accessory power and ground. The audio socket of the ipod chrarger is not affected by the volume of the ipod. It actually had it's own volume so i just adjusted it so that it would be the same as the radio and CD player.
Problems I ran into and Fixes:
*After plugging everything in radio displayed "CDC Load". Thanks to the forum i found out it was likely to be a bad ground or radio needed to be reset. I used a better grounding point and unplugged the power wires from the radio for 5 mins. After pluggin it in, it worked perfectly.
*Putting the radio back took 25 mins. There is not a lot of room behind the radio to tuck a cigarrette lighter plug, new audio wires and the blitzsafe module. Cigarette plug went into the left bottom corner, wires and blitsafe module went in between the radio and climate control.
*Running wires through the tiny holes would be difficult without a coat hanger.
Conclusion: I love the way it looks now than before although the tape adapter sound seemed a little more crisp. The difference is very little and the convenience of only having to plug one cable in for the ipod to run overcomes that flaw. In addition it looks neater. Last thing is that the red buttons are a little lighter than the rest of the dash.
Hope you guys like it.

Re: I actually didnt ask for it. Just came with the car. Told them i wasnt paying a dime for it so..
it was free. I thought it was an option. Actually the sunshade is broken right now. it wont move. When i press the button, it just clicks. Gotta get it fixed.

My 2003 3.0Q did not have that as an option....
I was told that you had to get the 4.2 to get the sunshade. I am ordering the parts to add it to my A6.
In Baton Rouge, Louisiana that option is a must have if you dont like window tint.
