Not necessarily new, been available elsewhere for a while.
From what I've heard, Audi is working on an all-new, large-screen, DVD-based nav system due in 2003 or so. The problem with NavPlus is that it was expensive. On an A6 in the UK, it's a £2,148.93 (US $3,008.50) option. On an A6 in Germany, it's a DM 5,495.88 (US $2,357.84) option. I guess Audi figured no one in the U.S. would be willing to spend that kind of cash on a navigation system.
And you thought the standard nav system was expensive. :-)
