what the RS6 sold for, or darn close to it? Inflation sucks, but if it's competing with the M3, they missed the boat, as the M3 is about $58K

I would rather buy a rs6 for that price. I could get a used rs6 for less than that with almost no miles on it.
when the v8 m3 comes out, I bet it will be that much money, and it will be faster than the rs4

In fact, I think it will be positioned purposely <i>not</i> to compete with the M3. Like you said, it will be more expensive. Also, it's still going to be a 4 door sedan/avant with awd, not a rwd coupe/convertible. It will also be produced in limited quanities, which will supposedly add to it's value, etc...
Aside from that, has one even been road tested yet? How can you evaluate a car that isn't for sale or available yet? You're assuming quite a bit based only on published numbers alone. Just my $.02...
