Default The best source I could find for #'s was R&T. AWD 996TT is fastest car @ slalom of anything tested

The Z06 was the best street car @ 1.00 no doubt due to the high polar moment design. I would like to see the GT2 in the slalom numbers and then vs. a chipped 996TT for curiousity's sake. AWD must do something positive, IMHO. Enclosed is a pic of my old 996 Cab so you know I'm not FOS about downgrading to a TT.

Default I don't know...

Slater, BOBTA6 and Stoney seem to agree with me. Force, friction, forward momentum, etc., with AWD all contribute to better cornering. Then I read Bollinger's comments about rear bias. It sounds good, but I'm not sure I understand. I guess, slightly more power to the rear would cause the tail to slip first, thus warning you to pending disaster and allowing for correction. Quattro just lets go and you're pretty much hosed.

Also, I recall hearing that Audi w/Q was kicked out of some circuits due to an unfair advantage. If that's true, then I think that would answer the question. No?

Default Well, not hosed...

Consumer cars understeer for a reason. As the front slips, the natural tendency is to let off the gas, or brake. This thows the weight onto the front tires, improving their grip (remember freshman physics: friction is proportional to down force). The throwing of weight - dynamics - is one thing that has been missing from this discussion.

May I suggest asking on the S4 board, or doing a search with some keywords... these guys race a lot and talk endlessly about dynamics, often making some sense. ;^)
