New tire option--anybody look at the Pilot A/S3?
I've procrastinated as long as possible--inspection this month--and was about to buy the Conti DWS's based on an earlier post. However, Michelin just released an updated all season--the Pilot Sport A/S3. Anybody tried them yet? The paper story is compelling, and Michelin ran them against a bunch of similar tires at a press event in New Orleans last winter, where unsurprisingly they were best across the board.
The predecessor Pilot A/S Plus came in slightly second to the Conti DWS on Tire Rack's survey in my stone-stock size (215/55R16). Downsides are $60 (ok over the life) and that it's V-rated in this size, and therefore deemed "high performance", not "ultra HP" -- the higher speed ratings are ultra. I don't plan to exceed half of the V-rated speed, but does that somehow change the tire otherwise, or is it just the profile?
