Sounds good to me, I'd never base an RS buying decision on practicality..

Default Expecting 800 hp out of a chip is unrealistic. Even if you could...

get that out of a chip, the engine would probably be running close to detonation and the less-than-robust Audi transmission would probaly be eaten alive. If you truly wanted to turn your RS6 into an 800 hp car, it would probably require custom manufactured engine components, boring and sleeving of your engine block and a new transmission. That being said, I don't think 800 hp is excessive. I drove a 500 hp car for a year and found that you get used to the hp very quickly... thus my current upgrade to 700 hp. It's not about improved 0-60 times, as factors such as traction are going to limit your ability to improve that time beyond a certain point. Nevertheless, if you like neck breaking acceleration (especially at higher speeds) that extra HP is certainly not going to be wasted. It is also not about need. Nobody needs an 800 hp car for purely functional purposes but it sure is alot of fun. There is also nothing inherently dangerous about an 800 hp car. An 800 hp car is much safer in the hands of a good driver than a 100 hp car in the hands of a crappy driver.

Default After everyone else has flamed you.....

800 bhp is perfectly possible from a 4.2 ltr twin turbo engine. All you have to do is increase the boost and push in enough fuel.

Just how long it will last is another matter.

If you look at the standard engine, it is only just over 100bhp/ltr which is particularly high at all, especially as it IS turbocharged. BMW manage a higher specific output with the standard M3.

You could assume that there is enough spare capacity built into the mechanics and eletronics involved to allow a fairly reliable increase of 150 to 200 bhp simply by increasing the boost and fuelling. It would cause mechanical problems in the longer term but providing it was not driven hard in hot weather it could be reasonably reliable.

The driveability however, would suffer considerably, it would have a lot narrower power and torque range and would not be happy with full throttle below about 4000 rpm.

All in all, a good laugh but not a serious propersition without proper mechanical modification.
