Scrape a small sliver off it somewhere inconspicuous and take a torch to it. If it's aluminum it will simply melt...magnesium will ignite with a bright white flame.
Some people say you can also put a drop of vinegar on it...it bubbles with magnesium, nothing with aluminum.
