Hey all, Iam new to Audiworld and recently purchased a 2000 a6 4.2 w/ sport package. looking to get new rims and found a rs4 replica wheel that is 20" x 9" w/ a 40mm offset. My question is will I have an issue w/ caliper clearance and will I need to run spacers for the rims to fit properly? I was told by the rim shop that I would need to run a 15mm spacer. I want the rims to sit flush withthe wheel wells and want to make sure they won't cause any issues when I lower teh car. Any helpful advicewill be greatly appreciated.

will need spacers, will cause geometry issues if you lower the car. your call, but at a certain point "looks" become un-practical fron an everyday driver.... or maybe im just getting too old, i can quite tell lol

With a 40mm offset and 9" width, I wouldn't be surprised if the tire and/or the rim rub the spindle. The inner lip will sit almost 20mm inboard from factory.

That's a BIG wheel. What tires will you run to keep the OD close to right, and will they provide any practical protection. Next, i agree with redneck that it will most certainly rub on the inside. If you move it out 15mm as suggested you now have two problems:
1. a spacer. I wont blather on, but they are potential trouble.
2. about 3/4" of steering geometry error - not good.
If you plan to park and polish it, should work fine.

haha basicly what were saying is if you plan to lower go with a smaller wheel 17-18, whill look just as big as it will fill in the wheel well more on a lowered car and not fubar stuff as much as going as big as 20

correct. I can explain, but dont have the strength unless someone wants the explanation *again*.
Its basically placing the entire wheel on a lever arm extending out from the hub. When you turn the wheel, the wheel does nto pivot on its center. rather, it scrubs a radius around the pivot point. Bad. Of course the lever is only 15mm long, but there's a LOT of pressure on that lever!
