Default News today says MN lawmakers considering raising ethanol content in gas to 20%.

Currently, 10% is the standard. Will increasing the ethanol content to 20% in any way affect the 2.7t?

How about its effect on the 2.8 & 4.2?

Wish it could be raised to 100% nationally. Being dependant on foreign oil is horrible.

Default Would an engine be able to run on 100% ethanol without being modified? .. a turbo?

What is stopping them from going to 50% or more??? Cost?

How much would a barrel of oil have to cost before corn would be cheaper?

Default All good questions. I'm not an engineer or alternative fuel expert. Just hate being dependant

on people who hate me to heat my home and drive.

Default What a bunch a baloney. This has nothing to do with cleaner fuel, only farm subsidies.

I wouldn't be so mad if they call it that, but they try to hide behind the cleaner fuel argument. It is any wonder MN is the ONLY state doing this? The cleaner fuel argument is only valid on really, really old cars, which is so insignificant anyways. I would like to see them selling both options, and let the consumers choose, but no, the state has to force it on us. And let's not forget the fact that adding ethanol or any other additives is going to raise the price of gas.

Would rather subsidize US farmers than terrorists.

Default I agree with your "free market" idea, but there is a free market, and ethanol is not being adopted.

I'm a believe in hands-off government, but in some areas, it takes a kick in the pants to make private industry think outside the box. The big oil co.s are happy to charge their standard markup on dino fuel, and they have no incentive to invest in alternative fuels development -- unless the government gives them an incentive.

Getting off foreign oil would make many things much better.
