Stick vs. auto
If I drove an auto I wouldn't mind a tad less noise but shifting is difficult at times because cant always hear engine well (i.e. I forget to shift out of 4th on highway - D'oh!)

Anechoic is correct.
Anaerobic, although not that much, could be correct too. The sound doesn't transmit in a vacuum.
