Noise on startup

So every morning when I start from cold the car revs to about 1500rpm for 10s or so. I think this is normal.
The trouble is for the first second or two the engine makes a noise which I can only describe as a screech with a grinding noise, like grrrr screech.
Anyone else had this? What is it?
Thanks

If so, it's most likely your transmission hydraulic pump cavitating.
Change the ATF fluid and filter and this should cure your problem.
The filter is dropping too much pressure and when the fluid is cold, you do not have adequate net positive suction head to the pump, so it cavitates.

Lots of info here

Th sound of the cylinders running cold waiting for fresh oil to pump up.
Its a common noise on lots of cars. My wife's cab 3.0 has it, my daughters VW 2002 2.0 motor has it. My old 1972 Veg had it... its very common.
What lessens it is good synthetic oil.
If you have a concern... send you oil at thenext change for analysis. It should be fine..
