Default OE B5 S4 17" Avus wheels on an A6 4.2?

Selling a set of OE Avus and have a buyer interested, but he has a 4.2. I'm guessing they will fit and clear his brakes, but how will the setup look on the wider body 4.2? Are the fenders wider than normal A6 cars?

I searched the archives, but wasn't clear. Seemed like some people said the S4 Avus fit, but the S6 Avus were better.

S6 wheels are 1/2 inch wider than S4 wheels.

Default looks like you already answered this in your initial question. the s4 wheels do fit but because you

have a 4.2 the s6 wheels will probably fill the wheel well better. either one will fit.

they are very nice wheels especially on the c5.

Default Define 'fit'. Bolt pattern: yes. Hub diameter: yes. Clear brakes: yes.

Offset: ET45 vs. stock 4.2's ET35.

Stock 255 width: no.

Narrower tire with higher profile: yes if you can find one in the right size and load rating.

Yes, the 4.2 has larger fenders.

Default Wrong offset - 45mm vs 35 (both negative)

At least my S6 requires -35mm.....

Default They will fit...but not a good fit...on the 4.2. Add this to the reasons...

already mentioned. They will look "sucked in"

The perfect offset for the 4.2 is ET 30 IMO, I would never go more than ET 35.

Default 2nd that. I'd almost consider going to et20 on my car, since the edges

of my tires are slanted. Of course, that's probably not the best idea

Default THanks -- not my car so I thought I'd

ask the experts

The wheel buyer was new to Audis and didn't want to sell him a wheel that would look funny even if it fit.
