Re: offset
I just installed a set of A4 5 spoke sport wheels on my 2.8q (17X7.5, ET45) with 225/45-17 tires and the clearance to the front suspension components is pretty tight. I suspect going with 1/2" wider wheels at that offset (especially with any tire wider than 225) could cause interference on the front. Just my thoughts

possible. Aftermarkets of ET45 should be
fine. I am running ET41, Audi rims and
noticed they have a slightly wider stance
then the stock wine glass. Give the search
a go to see what you can find. Good luck.

Remember, it is not just the offset, but the shape of the spokes...
I had issues with ET43 18" Ultrasport wheels clearing my stock HP2 calipers up front (you will not have the same issue, but this was for the sake of other 2.7T owners). One would think that ET45 to ET43 would not be an issue, and it would not be, excpt that the spokes themselves curved inward, just enough to require a spacer.
Sold those wheels and settled for similar ET43 17" wheels. Even though these rims are 1/2" narrower (18x8" vs 17x7.5") the spokes do not curve inward and do not hit the calipers.
Also, make sure that you buy a set of wheels that has the correct center bore. The center bore is what really holds the wheel onto the hub. The bolts simply hold the wheel against the center bore. If you go aftermarket with the incorrect center bore, you will need hubcentric rings/adapters.
Best of luck with your wheel upgrade! Makes a huge difference in appearance!
