I agree. You'll be disappointed with the X5 after living with the S6 for awhile.
I've driven the X5 4.6i and I was not impressed. It's pretty quick, but heavy and center of gravity feels high. I was surprised that I didn't like it AT ALL.

Eventually I'll need to tow a fully enclosed single axle trailer for the motorcycle
and that won't be that light. I'm thinking it will be close to 1,500-2000lbs and is the other reason for looking elsewhere.
I've fully researched doing the hitch option and it's not as enticing as I'd like it :/

wow.. i'd take THAT X5 over the S6 any day of the week
I love the looks of the X5, and the handling characteristics are similar to the Audis. The only drawback I see is how unreliable the BMWs are. My sister has her X5 in the shop every other month. My A6 has gone 75,000 mi, and I've put $42 into it. If you can foot the bill, that X5 would be a real winner everywhere you go.
