Hi Folks,

Can any one tell me if this is normal? Decided to check the oil on my car, and found it almost a quart low only 2500 miles since it's first scheduled service. I know the 2.7T burns oil in the first few thousand miles, and indeed mine burned about two quarts after about 3500 miles, but is this normal? This thing burns more oil than a GE90-77B!

Reading this board for 1 1/2 years suggests that most 2.7T's burn oil for the first few thousand, and then taper off. Some take a little longer. My 2.7T didn't burn oil when new, and with 14K, still uses hardly any. Go figure!

I'm just over 7000 miles now and can't tell if it has used any at all since the 5K oil change. This is mostly heavy stop & go traffic.

Agree w/timcar. None used before 5K service. None used before 10k service. 1/2 qt. added at 16,500 by me. I use Mobil 1 0-30W exclusively in 2.7T and 10-30W in 99.5A4 2.8QTipS w/38k on odo. That one hardly burns anything either btwn changes.

All I can say is I babied both @break in, never going above mph or rpm limits as rec'od. I push both of them since break-in was complete.

There are some things you can't figure.

Mine burned on the order of 1/2qt. per 3K for the first 12K. After the switch to synthetic at 16K, it seems it's thirst has been quenched entirely.
