Oil change saga at quick lube place....
#13
Flatbed to dealer asap and reach for wallet!
He fvcked up and now is gonna have to pay for it. And never mind the stuff about how the lube place "should have known better" - they are just in it for the money. Caveat emptor really applies here!

Depending on year, 5 or 10 intervals are appropriate.....
....while more expensive than a quick-lube joint a dealer or a competent independent (with you bringing the correct filter) should suffice.
You have to remember that Audi uses different fluids from most makes and some items, like the tranny, can't be easily serviced - there is no dipstick or drain plug....

No! If the goals is to make money, then what they did was completely...
... competent and successful. Collect money for doing nothing. If you happen to do harm in the process, well, that's just a little bonus.

Yes and no......
The lube joints supposedly have computers that tell them what fluid to use and they obviously did not change the tranny fluid - although he was charged for the work. I suspect that is one place that is going to close in a jiffy......
Luckily it is a chain with deep pockets. That location will open under new manglement and my Audi guy will get a properly repaired car - with the lube joint footing the bill.
I wouldn't know better if I didn't hang out here - who would think that you need to drop the belly pan to change the oil - hell I didn't know it had a belly pan until I got here.
Quick lubes did all my oil changes on my '98 Yukon.....
On an aside - fraud like this is pretty common. I closed down a chain of Garages in 1994 for doing the same thing. We went in at 6AM on a Monday, seized his files, called the German equivalent of the INS to resolve some issues with some undocumented foreign employees. It started the same way, with a customer complaint that his oil had not been changed - we sent some specially prepared test vehicles through and quickly had enough evidence that allowed us to raid the two garages. Some of the stuff we found was quite amazing, as was the stockpile of stolen goods at his house. Last I heard, he was sentenced to 6 years in jail for the fraud, thefts and tax evasion.....

No offense to your co-worker but I thought all guys who buy Audi's are smarter than that. Why buy..
an expensive car to have some APEX tech guy work on it. Bring it to the dealer ASAP and sue the quick lube place!
