Default Oil changes!
Just bought the oil and filter for my wife's Touareg - 8.9ltrs - it came to over £100 for the oil and filter element together - that is $200 for US folks! The oil is Fuchs synthetic 0w/40 VW 506.

It is on Long life servicing but I am not happy about leaving the oil in any engine for 20k miles so at 30k now it is having only the third oil change in it's short life.

How much does that filter cost?? The oil alone here in the US would be $45-$50 (Mobil 1).

'Course I'm used to changing my oil much more frequently that your utilization. Even so....

The oil was £33 per 4 litre pack, that was with a 10% discount, so the filter was cheap.

Default LOL. I think I spend about $50 on oil changes. I do them every 5-6k though, so
it's comparable to what you spend.

Default Not if I change the oil at 10k as opposed to 20k. The only consolation I have is that...
if we take it to the dealer, the oil chnage service will be over £350, but they will stamp the book and change the pollen filter too!
