Oil temp gauge not registering

I have a 2000 Audi A6 2.7t and the Oil temp gauge does not move no matter how long I drive. All other gauges work. I do know the LCD is out, not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Any suggestions?

most likely culprit: sender unit. But could be anything - wire, connector, .....

yup its the sender , this has come up a lot lately .. normally we would say dont throw parts at it etc .. but this for sure is the sender.. get a Hella sender , do NOT get a Myle as it will not work as you have a 2000 model.
