Default ok, I really gotta ask.... does it really matter what brand/model of tire when the width/aspect...

ratios are the same, for same diameter tires?

what's with all these questions?

I understand asking for different types of vehicles/ride feel/etc...

but this is getting ridiculous...

oh, and btw- Go Hålos!!

Default Yes. Just like any product, some are better than others, and ....

any given tire, even of the exact same size, can have very different qualities.

Default Pretty big differences in carcass & sidewall constructions, rubber compounds, and tread patterns

All these lead to fairly noticable differences in ride/handling/performance between different tires, in different conditions. I'm sure you'd notice the change if you swap tires, keeping dimensions the same.

And size, too. Pirellis tend to be fatter than Michelins, for example.

Default I'm not sure I understand your question.

Are you wondering why someone would want to know if a particular brand of tire in a certain size (let's say 235/45/17) would fit on their car vs another brand in the same size. If that's you question then the answer is that, due to differences in construction and the exact points of measurement, two different brands or models of the same marked size tire are actually not the same size. The widest point may be in a different place (higher or lower on the sidewall) so that one might rub but another will not.

If you are asking why two different models of tires of the same size would perform differently, one could write volumes on that topic. Rubber compounds, tread designs, casing designs, reinforcing materials, etc. etc. etc.
