OOp! :( 70 on the Kennedy and got a speeding ticket....
Long story short, 70 in a 55 (on the highway! 90/94, meh) and incorrect lane usage (crossed over 3 lanes in one pass).
State trooper took me license and gave me a court date.
First time for everything I guess.
There goes my perfect record.
Anything I should do before then?
WWAWD?
Thanks.

Here's what we do in Long Beach (CA)
You get as many extensions as you possibly can, here it is 2. At your last extension plead not guilty. This will still run you the amount of the ticket. Then schedule your court date for the opposite of when you were pulled over. Daytime ticket, night court, etc. This will help the chances of the cop not showing up. If he doesn't show, your ticket is dropped. It doesn't work all the time, and you feel like a fool if he shows up, especially if you are guilty. Still, I have had good luck, 3/4 times I got out of it, and the one time the cop showed, they still let me go to traffic school.
Ask around and find out what the policy is when it is a state trooper. Some departments have to show up, others almost never show.

See if you can fight it via written declaration. In CA you can 'fight'
your ticket via email. If the cop doesn't write in a response, your ticket is dismissed. After all, the last thing the cop/trooper wants to do is fill out more paper work.
In CA if they do write in, and you're found guilty, you can still go to face/face trial, and do what Futurist recommends.
So far over the past 5 years, the written by declartion has worked for me 3/3 times.

Natl Motorists Assn Legal Defense Kit is a big help
I belong to the National Motorists Association (www.motorists.com), who long ago helped to abolish the 55mph national speed limit. They have a great Legal Defense Kit that can help you. btw- I am in the Chicago burbs and if you are ever looking to sell your car....

http://www.motorists.com</a
