Default Open or Short to Ground - Terminal 30

Ok, so I'm getting the following from the transmission module on my VAG-COM:

00688 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground

Where is terminal 30? Anyone know where to start to try and track this down. I just finished replacing switch F125 on my transmission and found some broken wire next to the shifter and that got rid of a bunch of errors I had. Now I'm down to this last one.

The transmission display in the console lights up but when I reset the code, it displays correctly. When I turn off the engine and re-start, the error comes back. The car is perfectly driveable but for this one error.

Terminal 30 is +12 from the battery. It's telling you that it's either open (no power) or short (grounded).

Ah, OK. So I would assume then that it's a short because I do get power. Also, the code was 00668 and not 00688.

Also, referring to the Bentley, it says terminal +30 is the ground wire to the starter. I assume then, that this goes from the negative battery terminal to the starter and somewhere there is a break in this wire. Correct?

So another question. If I need to pull the ground wire on the starter to clean/re-tighten, do I need to remove the front bumper/condenser/generator or can I access this wire as is?

Thanks!

Well, after some more searching online, I realize that I will probably have to take the nose of the car off to get to the generator and starter terminals.

I guess it'll have to wait until some weekend when I have time to do this. In the meantime, I'll try and clean the battery grounds.
