Opinions on Oil Additives (e.g., Slick 50)

It means that I routinely get 180,000+ miles out of every car I've owned and
none of them have ever had engine wear problems. They usually bite the dust because of some other problem that becomes too expensive to fix. And I even had that good run of luck before synthetics came out-- or at least before I began using them.

Thumbs up on Auto-RX, though it isn't really an additive...
I'm 700 miles away from finishing the treatment, and it's done a great job with my engine; it did exactly what I hoped it would do for my tired, unwilling 2.8. I'll finish the rinse, put in my Amsoil, and post more of a report in a couple weeks...

If you believe the manufacturers, it coats the metal to provide protection at start-up
They also claim that it reduces friction. Both of these, if true, would extend engine life. The question, of course, is whether these claims are true.
