OT: Help! suggestions on how to transport delicate equipment...
I'm moving to Miami next week and will take with me a few medium-big sized things, between the most delicates ones are: a Home Theater Receiver, a CD player, a DVD player, a CPU, and a couple printers.
Since I'm abroad and moving companies are not really interested in transporting such little equipment, there're not many options left for me. Some of those options are: taking the things with me as baggage and pay for the overweight at the airline, have them carried by an Int'l Courier service (DHL, FedEx) or using my airlines' cargo department.
Can you give me some suggestions / experiences with each one of the options to help make my transition a pain-free process? Please keep in mind that we're dealing with $10,000 worth of electronics.
Thanks in advance,

Overpack, overpack, overpack...
I ship custom guitars all over the world and (knocking on wood) I've never had one get damaged. I've always used UPS. I am very careful about how I pack them- I overpack for certain. Good box, lots and lots of bubble wrap, tape it up securely, lots of "fragile" stickers (for whatever good that does), and be sure to insure it.

Re: Thanks!, should UPS carry the bubble wrap and boxes?
Every time I've had to send something (I've used always DHL) they just don't have an appropiate packaging for it. I always end up using bubble wrap from things I've bought before. Guess that depends on the local UPS office, right?.
Looks like I paid and gave the change myself ;¬).

If you really want some recourse, use a shipping co. like Mailboxes Etc.
And don't sign anything that waives any of their responsibility. Let them pack it to their heart's delight with their own materials; it will cost quite a bit but then they're on the hook. And make sure the shipper's insurance (FedEx, UPS, whoever) covers the cost of what you're shipping.
