An overdue thanks to Kris Hansen for his help with a full suspension update on my A6: (long, BWW)

No-Kris has a very handy tool that presses them out; they would
not have budged without the tool, IMHO. The "POP" they made when they broke free was dramatic. The tool runs ~$100 IIRC what Kris said.

Rough numbers for you: control arms: $500; Shocks: $450; Springs: $180; alignment: $140
there were a few little odds and ends but that's the major stuff.
Should last me another 100,000 miles.

did u mean popping out the bj end of the uca?
From the pics they had some problems but seems like they took out the entire suspension/spring/shock unit. When I replaced front shocks I didn't have to pop the uca's out of the upright.
OTOH, when I replace the bushings at the body end of the UCA I'll have to remove the UCA including bj end. If the bj is still good I'll drill and zerk/grease fit it.
Clearly, the sealed bj is good for the life of the bj...it's just that the life isn't very long without the ability to keep grease in there!!
