P0422 Cat Bank 1 Help
Got a P0422 code, cat bank 1 operating below efficiency.
Did a ton of searching, and I'm leaning towards getting an OEM fit cat pipe.
I plan to fit the pipe on my own, but do not have access to a welder. Do the OEM fit pipes require welding? The pics I've seen online look like they would bolt on.
Also, which side is bank 1? Drivers or pass side?
I also do not have a Vag-com, but a friend has a generic scanner tool can u reset that code with any scanner? or do u need a specific VW/Audi scanner to reset codes?

Bank 1 is passenger side. New OEM doesn't require welding. Code can be reset with generic scanner, but...
Before you go through all that try running a can of Sea Foam through the gas tank. Pour whole bottle into a 1/2 to 3/4 tank for a nice concentrated mix. Run it hard a few times while in tank and take close to redline to help clean the cat. Reset code and see if comes back. No guarantee it will work, but a good chance it will and is way cheaper than a new Cat.
