Default Passenger power seat switch died - how to get seat forward to remove it?

I've found a few excellent write ups on getting the seat out, but they assume a functional power seat switch. Mine will only put the seat back, it won't move it forward. Right now it is in the full back position.

I've measured the voltage at the connector from the switch for the fore/aft movement and it shows 12V when in the back position, and mV when pushed forward. I'm concluding the switch is shot.

I'm thinking that I can put 12v in the correct polarity to the motor directly to get it to move forward, but my concern is burning out the motor due to excessive current if I use a spare car battery.

Any tips out there? Gang up a bunch of D-cells?

Also, the local dealer wants $130 for the switch. Any advice where to buy it for less on line?

Thanks,

mikehd

Default Some progress...

I ordered the switch from www.audipartssuperstore.com ($~115 delivered).

I got 8 D-cells ganged up and outputing 12V. Connected it to seat motor connections and it gives a little click like it wants to move but now I suspect I don't have enough current to get the motor operating.

Anyone know what the current needed is to get the motor going?

Default Tried 2x6V Lantern Batteries...

still no joy. Any ideas out there? Hello?? Buehler???

hmmm, now that I re-read the seat removal post, it looks like I don't have to muck with getting the seat forward. The front two bolts are all that hold it in...
