Default PC Magazine and throttle lag

..So today I'm reading Nov.21 PC Magazine, where there is a technology review of the new VW Passat. They liked it EXCEPT FOR THE "STRANGE THROTTLE DELAY", for which they warned to NOT try pulling into intersections until you have gotten used to it.
SO Does this run across the entire VW-Audi line? And is no one at Audi embarrassed that even Geeks realize this is wrong and dangerous? I love my 4.2, but will not purchase another one for this single reason!! I am actually thinking of going next time for a low-milage 98-99 A8 (throttle cable). If anybody, anywhere, knows of a way to beat this please let the world know! Does TT 3.2 DSG behave same way (i.e, too fast from brake-to-gas, and you get limp mode power)?

Default hmm, I've only experienced it when left foot braking

which is a habit I cured myself of shortly after realizing that was the cause...but yeah, you should be able to do a true brake torque on these cars, don't know why they don't let you. I heard that some chip lets you do it, but I can't remember which and whether they have a ship for our 4.2's or not.

Default Most any turbo will have some type of turbo lag... even if small. My wife complained about it on

the 2.7T at first as well. The drive-by-wire set up does not help either from what I hear.

Default I see... thought he was talking about the Passat 2.0T review. I drove the 3.6 Passat and it had no

delay... nice driving car actually. Plenty of power to spin the wheels as soon as you nail the throttle.

Default Re: hmm, I've only experienced it when left foot braking

Apologies for my ignorance, but is this an issue in automatics?

I have a manual 2.7T and I don't think I've ever experienced this effect.

Default I believe so

but I'm not sure how the manuals handle the brake torquing, haven't tried, but I know that when the brakes are applied in my car, it cuts the gas

Default He is talking about the abrupt throttle tip-in of the 4.2...

...which makes a launch a bit abrupt.
I too would like to know if this electronic throttle can be adjusted as I have the same complaint about the throttle action.

Default Not so much about an abrupt throttle tip in causing an abrupt launch, but rather the opposite...

If you move too quickly from brake to gas pedal, the car goes into "limp mode" drastically cutting power, and giving dangerously low acceleration.

Koz.
