Yes, the engine will rev to the stall limit, but when you remove your foot from the brake you will pull away with about 60 HP total, A)until you remove your foot from throttle (even just for a 100th of a second)then re-apply, or B)until some unpredictable amount of time passes[2 to 6 seconds!!] after which you get the sudden kick-in of all the horses. How can I ask my wife to drive such a breast ....er... beast!

for all engines (at least 2.7 and V8, from personal experience). Roll at a stop, hit the gas and - nothing. It's not mechanical, but electronic and I have seen no documented method to overcome (other than the launch technique above for brake torquing, but that really addresses a different aspect of moving the car as opposed to the daily intersection crossing hazard).
It's true what's said about coping techniques. In fact, one could argue that this programming is Audi's technique for coping with the 60 Minutes aftermath that almost killed its US sales 17 years ago or so.

...so there is a programming solution!!!! Where are AWE at al on this? I'd pay tree-fiddy for the chip to eliminate BTL (for me) and enable a gentle acceleration tip-in (for wifey).
