Hi Johnny. Seems like you're putting yourself through changes with this decision. What color interior would you get with the Pearl? Melange Ambiante is beautiful and would be nice w/the white. What are you thinking?
If I had ordered mine from scratch I'd probably have gotten ebony w/melange or maroon. The cashmere gray is nice but looked dark and depressing in certain lights.

Well, I'm not sure I can get the pearl white yet. I asked my dealer to try--she said they would put the order in and see what happened, but would let me know if they couldn't get it. Actually, I'm thinking of the onyx interior because I've had tan/beige (melange) for the last few cars, and want a change. I liked the maroon also, but they talked me out of that because it may change color as it ages (get brown looking). I like the contrast of white w/black, and would probably tint the windows also--not a lot, maybe 20%.

Johnny,
As for Pearl on the 2000 models. I now understand that ordering a 2000 from the factory may not be possible as 2001 models are staged for production launch. But, Pearl was available on a 2000 A6-4.2 I have seen 2 of them
personally in the same parking lot in Bellevue, WA.
(OPINIONS)
I drove a 100CS pearl/onyx for 7 years. It looked great. Can't imagine doing pearl any other way!
Maybe it's because I have a B-Black 4.2 due to arrive in 4 weeks, but I think Pearl on this model tends to soften its look. I seems to lose some of its agressive appeal with the color change. Or maybe I had too much of a good
thing on the old car. One thing is for sure, the Pearl color always gets compliments on how great it looks!

I have the melange. I actually wanted the maroon but was told that it was not an acceptable exterior/interior combo and had to change my order.
As far as the pics, I will try to post more later in the week. Do you have any specific angles that you want?

Since I am in the paint business I am qualified to comment on this and I think people should seriously take this into consideration if they are thinking about getting a pearl white A6, or any pearl white car for that matter. Pearl white is VERY difficult to achieve a perfect match with if repairs are needed. A simple ding will turn into a rather large repaint/repair area because more area is needed to achieve a good blend. The results are rarely 100% satisfactory and most bodyshops will tell you going in that they cant guarantee a perfect match. On the other hand, matching your basic solid white is easy as pie.........I can almost do it with my eyes closed. BAD10
